My brother Howie died and I was listening to his music and wandering through his photos, printed photos from our life decades ago. I was looking through a small folder colour negatives and saw the stunning, strange colours they were, complementary opposite colours. They gave off the mental aroma of another era.
In the one that inspired this painting, Howie was photographing his wife, Penny Morton as they flew on a pilgrimage to see their guru, Maraji, now known as Prem Rawat .
I had the lovely sensation of feeling Howie standing behind me taking the photograph as I looked on and created another art work from his original. He was working with me beyond the grave.
. He took some beautiful photographs of people.
