Gilly_web_600pxGillian is one of the last generation of artists taught in the academic manner. During 8 years of art college, she gained a Dip. AD. (Fine Art) with First Class Honours, from Gloucestershire College of Art, an Art Teachers Certificate (ATC) from Goldsmith’s College London and a Masters from The Royal College of Art.

She began her career by setting up a company in London painting murals and roller blinds. The blinds were supplied to major stores in the UK, New York and Los Angeles and commissions for over 100 murals took her to Spain, California and the Middle East. They included the ceiling of a sheik’s palace in the United Arab Emirates, and the Apollo Triptych at Pyrford Court, Surrey.

Later work included painting sets and backgrounds for films, theatre and photographic studios, teaching in secondary school and lecturing in India. She has exhibited widely.

In recent years Gillian has painted quietly in her country studio, continuing to exhibit both locally and further afield.

Her new venture for 2016 is a programme of small-group workshops in her studio, which is peacefully situated in a former farmyard, close to the canal in Frampton on Severn, Gloucestershire.

She is also available for talks, demonstrations and individual tuition for which she is happy to discuss subject matter.

Commissions for portraits – of a person, pet or building –  are welcomed at any time.
